The Executive Team at Aimbridge is comprised of veteran hoteliers with a history of delivering industry-leading results. Averaging over 26 years of hospitality experience, the senior executives focus on maximizing returns to partners by utilizing a unique blend of experience, resources, and relationships.
Rob Smith has over 30 years executive leadership in the hospitality industry, including extensive experience at the General Manager level in upscale, large box, full-service Hotels, Resorts, and Casinos in the US and the Caribbean. He has directly overseen more than 150 million dollars of hotel renovations and several brand repositioning projects.
He joined Aimbridge in the spring of 2013 as Regional Vice President of Operations.
Rob also served the island of Aruba as the President and CEO of the Aruba Convention Bureau and The Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association (2007-2010), a public-private partnership with the Aruban Government.
In 2005, he was named the island's "Hotelier of the Year" as General Manager of the Westin Aruba Resort Spa & Casino and was nominated the same year as hotelier of the year by the Caribbean Hotel Association, for which he served on their Board of Directors for more than a decade.
He is an alumni of the University of South Florida, majoring in Business Finance and American Studies. He resides in Plano Texas, home of the Aimbridge Corporate offices, with his wife and four children.
Rob’s wife and children, all born on the small Caribbean Nation, still call Aruba their second home.
In his spare time he enjoys mountain biking and all things out-doors.
